Broadalbin-Perth women’s football team finished second in Grade A tournament | High school

The Broadalbin-Perth women’s football team received some good news on Monday when the results of the Section 2 football tournaments were revealed.

After winning 10-6 overall and 9-0 in Foothills Council, the Patriots are ranked second in girls Class A. They will face No. 7 Ichabod Crane in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Broadalbin-Perth faces a daunting schedule to prepare for non-league post-season play. The Patriots played in Section 3 Baldwinsville, as well as Suburban Council Ballston Spa, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, Saratoga Springs, Columbia and Shaker.

In the Class B tournament, No. 10 Fonda-Fultonville will face No. 7 Cairo-Durham on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in a first-round match.

Several teams in the area compete Friday in the first round of the Class C tournament, with No. 5 OESJ hosting No. 12 Whitehall at 6:30 p.m. No. 9 Mayfield will travel to face No. 8 Maple. Hill at 3 p.m. and No. 10 Galway visit No. 7 Bolton/Warrensburg at 3 p.m.

Northville finished second in the Class D bracket and earned a bye to the semifinals. The Falcons will face the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between No. 6 Salem and No. 3 Germantown.

On the boys side, Amsterdam is ranked No. 10 in the Class AA bracket and will face No. 7 Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake on Wednesday at 7 p.m. 8 Broadalbin-Perth in the Grade A tournament on Wednesday at 7pm.

Some other first-round matches will see No. 6 Johnstown host No. 11 Tamarack in the Class B bracket on Wednesday at 7 p.m., and in the Class C bracket, No. 11 Mayfield will visit No. 6 Chatham on Thursday at 3 p.m.

Northville earned the No. 1 seed in the Class D tournament and will host No. 8 seed in a quarterfinal matchup Friday at 7 p.m.
