Work to strengthen the Wellington High Court’s seismic building will begin soon.

The building is among many courts across the country that need expensive work to make them safe and fit for use.

The Ministry of Justice tender for the building at 2 Molesworth Street in the capital said the work would cost more than $20 million.

“The main contractor will need to have demonstrable experience in seismic strengthening works and experience in real-life operating conditions,” the tender document states.

He will continue to work and work will be done outside of normal business hours.

The closing date for contractors interested in the work is this week.
