Heather Knight injury: England captain fit enough to join Sydney Thunder for Big Bash

England captain Heather Knight will join her Big Bash side Sydney Thunder this week after her calf injury was deemed a minor issue.

Knight, 33, was forced to retire due to injury during England’s defeat to the West Indies in the T20 World Cup and was unable to take the field in the run chase as her team bowed out of the tournament.

She says she tore a tendon, but it “won’t keep her out for long.”

The Big Bash begins on Sunday, October 27, with Knight joining the Thunder squad later this week.

England said Knight would “continue his return to play under the guidance of the Sydney Thunder and England medical teams.”

She is expected to be ready for her next appearance in England, a three-format tour of South Africa, which begins on November 24.
