A man suffered burns to his hands in a house fire in Bridgewater.

Firefighters rushed to the aid of a man with burns and smoke inhalation after a house caught fire in Bridgewater overnight.

Tasmania Fire Service crews from Bridgwater and Glenorchy responded to the fire in Bromley Street just before 1am on Monday.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the home “fully engulfed” in flames, the spokesman said.

Footage from the scene shows a man trying to put out the flames with a garden hose.

The injured passenger was taken by paramedics to the Royal Hobart Hospital for treatment.

Fire crews remain on site this morning to investigate to determine the cause.

It is clear that the property was completely destroyed.
