Father found after child found wandering alone in Delhi town

UPDATE: The father of a young boy who was found wandering alone in a Delhi town late Sunday night contacted police early Monday morning and plans to pick up his son, police told FOX19 NOW.

Earlier history:

DELHI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) – Police reached out to the public overnight as they searched for the parent or guardian of a young boy found alone on the street overnight.

A passing motorist called 911 after spotting him wandering around without a shirt or shoes near Pedretti Road and Fear Road shortly before midnight Sunday, according to Delhi Police Corporal Michael Gerde.

He said he was wearing only dark blue swimming trunks and a baby blanket with a cartoon on it.

“We think he snuck out of the house while his parents were sleeping. He’s nonverbal. We tried all our options. We even checked the areas for doors left wide open and found nothing, so we’re really at a dead end,” said Corporal Gerde.

Police turned the boy over to child services workers at Hamilton County Job and Family Services.

Anyone who knows him or his family is urged to contact the Delhi Township Police Department at 513-922-0060.
