Energy Minister Chris Bowen says ‘all-too-aggressive approach’ is clouding energy transition

Energy Minister Chris Bowen calls it “too rigid an approach” that is clouding Australia’s mandated transition to a cleaner electricity system.

On the first day of The Australian Financial Review’s Energy magazine & Climate summit Mr Bowen’s opening speech challenged what he characterized as a pessimistic narrative of a difficult and costly transition. The story builds on stories such as Norway’s Equinor pulling out of an offshore wind farm off the NSW south coast, or Andrew Forrest’s decision to scrap Fortescue Metal Group’s green hydrogen ambitions.
