Oregon is the No. 1 team in the country.

The Ducks moved up to No. 1 in the AP Top 25 after Texas lost to Georgia on Saturday night. Oregon played Friday and easily beat Purdue 35-0 on the road, less than a week after the Ducks beat Ohio State 32-31.

It was the first time since the 2012 season that Oregon finished No. 1 in the AP Top 25. The Ducks’ second-place ranking was the third time Oregon had been ranked No. 2 since 2012.

The Bulldogs moved up three spots into second place after beating the Longhorns 30-15. Georgia led 23-0 at halftime and then went into a contentious second half.

Penn State remained in third place after a bye week in Week 8. The Nittany Lions won at USC in week seven and faced Wisconsin in week nine. Ohio State also held its place in fourth place over the weekend as Texas fell. four places to 5th place.

Miami held on to sixth place after beating Louisville 52-45, and Tennessee moved up four spots to seventh after beating Alabama. Rounding out the top ten are LSU, Clemson and Iowa State. The ACC’s Tigers traded places with the Cyclones after Iowa State needed a late TD to beat UCF at home.

Alabama fell to 15th after the loss to Tennessee and trails BYU, Notre Dame, Indiana and Texas A&M. The Crimson Tide is a top-25 team with two losses, and you could say both losses came to top-25 teams. Vanderbilt debuts at No. 25 in this week’s poll.

With the Big Ten including three of the top four teams in the poll for the second week in a row, the SEC now has nine ranked teams with the Commodores ranked in the top 25. The Big Ten has five ranked teams, the ACC has four, and the Big 12 has three.
