Michael Thomas rips Derek Carr after throw injures Chris Olave: ‘Get him out of here’

The Saints were thrilled to have QB Derek Carr back on the field Sunday after the veteran missed three games with an oblique injury, but the excitement around the offense died down when WR Chris Olave went down with a concussion in the first quarter.

Olave, who already had four documented concussions dating back to his college days, was carted off the field and taken to a local hospital with full movement of his limbs.

Former Saints WR Michael Thomas viewed the play as more than just an unfortunate turn of events and took to social media to criticize Carr for the pass that allowed Olave to take a hard hit from the Panthers’ Xavier Woods.

Here’s a look at Thomas’ harsh words for his former teammate.

What did Michael Thomas say?

Thomas spoke out against Carr on X (formerly known as Twitter) following Olave’s injury, calling for an end to Carr’s time with the Saints.

“Get him out of here he’s so…,” Thomas tweeted, adding, “He needs his… whoop.”

Thomas played with Carr in 2023, although the former All-Pro receiver played just 10 games that season, which will be his final season with the Saints. Still, Carr didn’t make much of an impression on Thomas.

“Dude tried to lie and say I was jealous that they made Chris WR1,” Thomas tweeted, then said the Saints “fired all their coaches trying to cover up his shortcomings.”

One famous name seemed to agree with Thomas, as Olav’s brother, Josh, responded to one of Thomas’ tweets with the following:

Josh Olave’s only other tweet since the start of the regular season questioned why his brother only scored once in the first half of the Monday Night Football game against the Chiefs in Week 5. This was Carr’s last appearance before the injury.

Chris Olave’s long-term future may be a topic of conversation after another concussion, but Carr’s future in New Orleans will be under scrutiny if the Saints can’t turn things around.
