As elections approach, more Americans plan to emigrate – report – World

NEW YORK, November 2. /TASS/. Americans are increasingly turning to emigration experts as they seek to move abroad as the US presidential election approaches, Bloomberg reports.

Emigration advice firms are facing a growing number of clients following the June election debate between US President Joe Biden and Republican candidate Donald Trump, according to a report.

“Demand has skyrocketed in the last couple of weeks as the polls have changed dramatically,” said Jen Barnett, founder of Expatsi.

In October, her company surveyed 7,000 Americans interested in emigrating and found that political differences were one of the top reasons they wanted to leave.

Another emigration assistance company, Henley & Partners, said total inquiries from the US have risen 500% since 2020 and that demand in the first 10 months of 2024 has already exceeded the level of all of 2023, the news agency reported.

Earlier in the news it was reported that representatives of the Republican and Democratic parties in the US Congress fear that the presidential elections could lead to an outbreak of violence. Democrats polled by the news site Axios said they believe Trump will almost certainly want to challenge the election results if he is defeated. Republicans said the real threat would come if Democratic challenger Kamala Harris loses and the party does not concede.

Amid those concerns, local and federal law enforcement have already begun beefing up security in Washington ahead of Election Day, with Capitol Police conducting casualty evacuation drills.
