With quick work Friday evening, the Ottawa Fire Department was able to contain a fire at a seniors’ center before it spread.

At approximately 7:11 p.m., a caller reported smoke was visible. from a room in a care home on Perth Street in the Richmond area.

Crews who arrived at the scene identified an active fire and additional forces were deployed.

Firefighters ran a hose line into the structure.
