Gurdaspur man among seven killed in terror attack in J&K’s Ganderbal district

Gurdaspur resident Gurmeet Singh (47), a construction worker, was among seven people who were shot dead late on Sunday during a terror attack on a camp they were staying at in Ganderbal district of J&K.

The attack killed six workers and a doctor.

Gurmeet belonged to Sahowal village, under the jurisdiction of Batala police district, and had been working in a construction company for the past two decades.

His father, Dharam Singh, left the army about 15 years ago.

The family of the deceased is already heading to the scene to collect the body.

Terrorists opened fire on a camp housing workers from a private company building a tunnel.

The other deceased was identified as Dr Shahnawaz, a resident of Budgam Nayidgam Kashmir; Mohammad Hanif; Fahim Nasir, Security Manager; and Kaleem, all from Bihar; Anil Kumar Shukla, a mechanical manager from Madhya Pradesh, and Shashi Abrol from Jammu.

The attackers left behind an INSAS rifle. Two company cars were also set on fire.
