Is a chatbot to blame for a boy’s suicide?

A lawsuit accusing a technology company of negligence, wrongful death and deceptive trade practices has been filed in US federal courts after a teenage boy committed suicide. The boy developed an online relationship with a chatbot character he created using an app called Feature.AI. His mother believes the company raped and preyed on her son, but the company’s founder says it’s up to people to figure out what’s valuable to them – they’re just providing products.
