Lafayette hits the road in search of a full game and a return to winning ways | Sport

EASTON, Pa. — Lafayette had to fend off Holy Cross last week, but still couldn’t win. The Leopards had an impressive offensive performance with 424 yards from running back Jamar Curtis, 117 of which were on the ground, but lost.

As the season winds down, the Leopards find themselves 1-2 in Patriot League play.

Despite the loss, the Leopards are looking at the positives from their game against the Crusaders. Junior tight end Dallas Holmes knows they just need to play until the end to move forward.

“Yeah, we definitely did a lot of good things after the first quarter. We knew they were a great team. So we just had to execute offensively and that’s what we found ourselves in the red zone three times and we found ourselves empty three times, so we have to play better and score more points.”

The Leopards hit the road this week to take on Bucknell, who have lost three straight games. John Troxell knows that even with the current trend the Bisons are on, there will still be problems in Lewisburg.

“They have a great quarterback in Ralph Rucker, you know Weatherly is a great receiver. They have a freshman running back who is doing a great job for them. They play hard on defense… They run to the football. .So they will create a lot of problems for our team.”

Senior linebacker Semaj Cross believes this is a game where the Leopards’ defense must stop and slow down the Bisons’ offense. Cross is mentally prepared for a style of play where they will be on the field defensively for long periods of time.

“They will try to score as many points as possible. They want a boat race. They need a fast pace. So, we expect to be on the field a lot, and you know, we’re just going to have to go out there and match that energy, exceed it.”

Lafayette and Bucknell kick off Saturday at 1 p.m.
