Inovalon commends the Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) team for their effective collaboration in collecting data and addressing gaps in the HEDIS® system. The team converted information from the internal case management system into data usable for HEDIS action. The team collected 395,110 new data points in the initial launch of HEDIS, allowing the company to better meet the chronic disease management needs of its Medicare Advantage members.

“Data helps us focus our efforts on reaching communities and improving the health of our members,” said Brandi Gustafik, quality improvement manager at HCSC. “We believe we are one of the first insurers to have found a way to overcome interoperability issues in this way. “We really appreciate the recognition of our efforts.”

Collective Excellence

The Collective Excellence Award recognizes healthcare organizations that improve patient experience and health outcomes. In response to a category that has received exceptional nomination stories, Inovalon named two honorees for their contributions: Walgreens and the Opioid Stewardship Network Committee at Inspira Health.

Walgreens received the award for launching and integrating Gene and Cell Services into its specialty pharmacy and for investing in its capabilities as it further develops the company’s core pharmaceutical business to improve patient outcomes and enhance value for payers and partners. Walgreens has established an 18,000 square foot innovation center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which provides comprehensive services to support new gene and cell therapies.

Additionally, Inspira Health’s Opioid Stewardship Network Committee was recognized for collaborating with Inovalon’s Vigilanz solutions to address gaps in EHR data, significantly improving the Pharmacy Surveillance Module and Opioid Module. Their efforts to optimize opioid prescribing practices and improve patient safety are consistent with the goals of the SAMHSA grant.

Innovator of the Year

The Innovator of the Year Award recognizes a passionate healthcare professional who pushes boundaries and ultimately makes a significant difference in their field.

This year’s honoree is Karen Knight, partner at Face Rock Enterprises. Knight was selected for her exceptional contributions to empowering tribal health care organizations through innovative financial strategies. By optimizing revenue cycle management, she helped one tribe generate more than $500,000 in additional funds in just six months. Knight’s extensive experience in health care management and passion for improving health outcomes in tribal communities exemplify her innovative approach to building sustainable health systems.

“I am honored and blessed to be recognized as Inovalon’s Innovator of the Year,” said Karen Knight of Face Rock Enterprises. “I work with tribes across the country using ideas, out-of-the-box thinking and technical innovation.
