Rain chances begin today during peak Halloween morning

Rain chances begin today during peak Halloween morning

CENTRAL TEXAS — Showers are possible this morning. Once the sun rises this afternoon, we will see temperatures rise into the 80s.

BREAKDOWN:

  • Rain chances will begin today and continue through early next week.
  • The best chance of rain will be Wednesday night into Halloween morning.
  • For now, the trick-or-treat policy looks dry.

We wake up to a sudden increase in humidity this morning and the southerly wind continues throughout the night and into this morning. A few morning showers are possible, but this won’t cause too much trouble. By midday there should be glimpses of sunshine and temperatures will rise into the 80s.
Tomorrow’s day will start very similar, with morning rain and glimpses of sunshine in the afternoon. If storms are likely to develop this afternoon, they may be severe. At the moment it doesn’t look like there will be a reason for this, but we will keep an eye on it.

By far our best chances for rain will come on a cold Halloween morning. Storms are expected to develop along the cold front. They should stay below severe limits, but some may be gusty. North to south activity should wind down this afternoon, leading to clear fun conditions with temperatures near 70 degrees.

On Friday, humidity will rise north again and with the jet stream becoming more active, we will have a transient disturbance continuing through the weekend and early next week, keeping the chance for rain remaining. A cold front should move through by the middle of next week, which will help clear things up and bring in more fall air with highs near 70 degrees. By the time all is said and done, many may receive an inch of rain or more! Stay tuned!

Happy Tuesday!
