Xiaomi is set to unveil its second electric vehicle (EV), the SU7 Ultra, at the Xiaomi 15 event in China on October 29. Following the earlier release of the standard SU7 model, the Ultra version promises superior performance and cutting-edge technology. With pre-orders now open in China, the SU7 Ultra aims to impress with its remarkable speed and cutting-edge technology.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is positioned as a premium electric car, competing with heavyweights such as the Tesla Model S Plaid.

Aimed at the premium segment.
While Xiaomi has not yet revealed the official price, industry insiders suggest that it could cost around RMB 800,000 (roughly Rs. 95 lakh). This price will significantly exceed the standard SU7 model, which starts at RMB 215,900 (around Rs 25 lakh).

The production version of the SU7 Ultra is expected to retain most of the features featured in the prototype that was unveiled a few months ago. However, while the prototype featured a carbon fiber body, the final version will use more fuel-efficient materials to keep the price in check.

First-class transmission, first-class power
Xiaomi has equipped the SU7 Ultra with a powerful triple HyperEngine engine. This includes two V8 engines and one V6 engine, strategically positioned between the front and rear wheels for optimal performance. Together, the engines generate a whopping 1,548 horsepower and 635 pound-feet of torque. Xiaomi claims that the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.97 seconds, making it one of the fastest electric vehicles in the world. It can reach 200 km/h in 5.96 seconds and an incredible 300 km/h in 15.07 seconds, with a top speed of over 350 km/h.

To maintain stability at such extreme speeds, the car provides a maximum downforce of 2145 kg. This focus on high-speed performance hints at Xiaomi’s ambition to dominate the luxury electric vehicle segment.

A key feature of the SU7 Ultra is the Qilin II battery developed by CATL. Using cell-to-body (CTB) technology, the 150 kWh battery is integrated directly into the vehicle’s structure, improving both weight distribution and stability. The battery can reach a peak power of 1330 kW and maintain 800 kW even at 20 percent charge. The SU7 Ultra also supports a 5.2C charging multiplier, allowing the battery to be fully charged in less than 12 minutes.

Xioami’s calculated move to limit availability outside of China
Although the standard SU7 was showcased in India, Xiaomi never brought it to market and the same could happen with the SU7 Ultra. Xiaomi appears to be focused on China for now, with no confirmed plans to expand its EV offerings to India.

Apart from launching the SU7 Ultra, Xiaomi will also unveil its new Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro smartphones. However, only the standard Xiaomi 15 is expected to launch in Indian markets. As Xiaomi continues to expand its presence in the EV market, all eyes will be on the SU7 Ultra to see if it can deliver on its bold promises and compete with the established giants of the EV world.
