ATEEZ overtakes Linkin Park to take first place on Billboard 200

It’s been a very important year for K-pop group ATEEZ. After becoming the first Korean boy group to perform at Coachella, the group embarked on their biggest U.S. tour to date, making their North American debut in Los Angeles. Now the eight-piece group has another major accolade to add to their 2024 breakthrough: their second No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 album chart with their November release. THE GOLDEN HOUR: Part 2.

ATEEZ’s claim to number one marks Linkin Park’s first release in seven years. From scratchentered the chart at No. 2, the highest debut album from a rock band that year. However, the band’s first album with new vocalist Emily Armstrong did debut at number one in 10 other countries: Germany, France, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

ATEEZ’s first album to top the Billboard 200 was their 2023 project. EP.FIN WORLD: WILL. With their second chart-topper, ATEEZ became just the third K-pop act to have multiple No. 1 hits on the Billboard 200, joining Stray Kids (who debuted five times) and BTS (with six to their name). ).

ATEEZ sold 184,000 album equivalent units in the U.S. for the week ending Nov. 21, including 179,000 physical album units, according to Billboard chart analytics firm Luminate. It also marks the group’s biggest debut yet. Linkin Park entered the chart with 97,000 equivalent album units, of which 72,000 were recorded as album sales.

ATEEZ isn’t the only Korean act on the chart this week; BTS’s Jin takes third place with his debut solo project. Happyand ENHYPEN ROMANCE: UNTALKED re-enters the list at number 7 with its new re-release, ROMANCE: UNKNOWN -dream-. Additionally, Puerto Rican singer and rapper Rau Alejandro scored his first top ten record with Goat Nuestra in No. 6.
