Johnny Depp skipped the press conference, but didn’t miss the chance to share his wisdom on letting go of the past. When his flight to Rome was delayed, he reportedly missed the Rome Film Festival, where he was supposed to be promoting his new film Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness. The film, directed by Depp, is part of a career resurgence following the legal battles and media scrutiny he faced in Hollywood. Although Depp is no stranger to controversy following his highly publicized divorce from Amber Heard, he has been rebuilding his career lately, starting with his role as King Louis XV in Jeanne du Barry, which premiered at Cannes with French director Maiwenn.

Despite his rocky history, including a high-profile breakup with Amber Heard and subsequent legal battles, Depp appears to hold no hard feelings. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter (THR), he said, “Honestly, I can sit here this very second and think about all the major events and how everyone was against me… endless things.” He recalled the ups and downs: “Some times were not great, some were fun. Part of it was crazy. The point is that it simply was and simply is.” For Depp, every experience, be it serious or mundane, has taught him something, and he is clear about one thing: “I don’t have that much reserve of hate because hate takes care. Why carry this baggage?”

According to the report, reflecting on his life, Depp compared his public trials with a sense of acceptance to infamous sagas such as that of OJ Simpson. “Hey, this just happened,” he said. For Depp, moving on meant losing himself in characters and films, freeing himself from the chaos around him.

The public saga of Johnny Depp reached new heights during his 2022 libel trial, with more than 500 million viewers. The legal battle ended with Heard being sued on three counts of libel and Depp on one. Heard’s insurance company eventually paid him $1 million (around Rs 6.5 crore), which he donated to charity, reports THR.

Throughout the trial, graphic details emerged, including incidents such as Depp injuring his finger in Australia after Heard allegedly threw a bottle at him. Their marriage, which reportedly lasted 15 months, ended in divorce, ending a relationship marked by scandal on both sides.
