Coronation Street fans ‘coach’ new Rovers Return owner – and he’s a legend | Television and Radio | Show business and TV

Coronation Street fans believe they have identified the new owner of the Rovers Return and it looks like the soap icon could take over.

The famed tavern, part of the show’s legacy, has been the center of drama throughout its 60-year run on television.

Owner Jenny Connor, played by Sally Ann Matthews, faced financial turmoil last year, raising doubts about the future of the venerable establishment.

Rescue seemed close when Daisy (played by Charlotte Jordan) and Jenny pocketed funds stolen by killer Steven Reed (Todd Boyce), Jenny’s former flame, from Carla Connor’s (Alison King) business, which he robbed before his untimely death.

Carla was devastated by Stephen’s death, despairing at the thought of his lost finances, oblivious to the fact that the cunning Daisy had gained access to his bank treasures by stealing the cash with the intention of laying claim to the inn.

Cue revelations in April; a furious Carla discovered that her missing assets had secretly financed the rescue of the pub.

Her ultimatum was crystal clear: “Until you two give me back every penny, this place is mine,” suddenly making Carla a landlord in all but name, reports the Liverpool Echo.

And yet the whispers are heard again along the cobbled streets; Fans are abuzz with speculation that in a new plot twist, David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) along with Shona (Julia Goulding) will become the new owners.

In a dramatic twist on Coronation Street this week, it was revealed that David was the culprit behind stealing Damon’s illicit money with the intention of buying his mother Gail’s house. However, fans are now speculating that David could use the stolen money to invest in Return of Rovers and possibly move here.

In a Reddit discussion thread, one fan asked: “Time for new ATV owners? Who should it be? Another user jokingly suggested: “David. Lol. That would be interesting!” A third fan agreed, saying: “Yeah David and Shauna would be good.”

Meanwhile, another enthusiast suggested: “David, Shauna, Max and Lilly. Let the two go and they can live in the Rovers Return. “I don’t want David to go to jail, he’s not a bad person and Shauna can be the lady of the house.” “

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
