Two weeks before college football’s early National Signing Day, the dominoes continue to fall.

The top player in the 2025 recruiting cycle made a shocking announcement by switching his commitment from LSU to Michigan on Thursday night. This comes on the heels of four-star prospect JuJu Lewis committing to Deion Sanders and Colorado earlier in the day.

Underwood, who attends Belleville High School in Belleville, Michigan, is the program’s highest-ranked signee since Rashan Gary signed at cornerback in the 2016 recruiting cycle. Underwood has been committed to Brian Kelly and the Tigers since January 6th. However, he made a big announcement with just under two weeks left until signing day.

He is a five-star recruit in the 247 Sports’ Composite rankings and the No. 1 player in ON3 and ESPN rankings. He is ranked second overall by Rivals behind Ohio State cornerback Tavien St. Clair. He becomes the first five-star QB committed to the Wolverines under head coach Sherron Moore and the first since JJ McCarthy in the 2021 class.

Underwood announced his commitment to Wolverine on social media with the caption, “Hometown. Hero”.
