The Block’s Kylie ‘banned’ from another reality show in 2025

The Block’s Kylie ‘banned’ from another reality show in 2025

She was one of the most talked about contestants on this year’s season. Blockbut fans shouldn’t expect Kylie Baker to return to TV anytime soon thanks to a major clause in her Channel Nine contract. Casting producer says Yahoo Lifestyle that Kylie as well Married at first sight Breakout star Lucinda Light has received interest from rival networks to appear on various reality shows in 2025.

However, they were both left disappointed as their contract stipulated that they “may not appear in any media without Channel Nine’s prior written consent” – a clause the channel is unlikely to revoke. They’ll be able to do whatever they want when their contract ends 12 months after their show ends on TV, but for now they’ll have to make the most of Nine’s options.

“Both Lucinda and Kylie have not been allowed to sign on to the new reality shows that are in production,” our source shares. “It was discussed internally that they would take part in something “completely different” to what we’ve seen them in before, but unfortunately they have restrictions on doing reality TV in Australia.

“After being on any reality show in Australia, it’s pretty standard that the channel that aired your show keeps you on for 12 months. Channel Nine may have plans for you, but the reality is that very few MAFS stars or ‘Goons’ will eventually get another show in the next 12 months.”

In the past, Channel Nine has allowed several reality stars to appear on another show on the network within a year of their appearance on television. This includes MAFSMartha Kalifatidis, Bek Zemek and BlockRonnie Caceres on Australia’s Famous Student, MAFS» Evelyn Ellis on LeaveAnd BlockEliza and Liberty Pashke on Postcards And Do you want to live forever?

However, given that Famous student has since been cancelled, and with no celebrity reality shows on the network’s programming schedule, there are fewer opportunities for contestants to pursue careers in television.

Instead, many MAFS, Love Island And Block stars have moved to rival channels in recent years, including Cyrell Paul on The Amazing RaceEden Dally CAC AustraliaCallum Hole on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!as well as Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie on Location, Location, Location.

Meanwhile, MAFSEarlier this year, Bronte Schofield revealed she was offered a “five-figure sum” to star in the series. I’m a Celebrity on Channel 10, but Nine stopped her due to a clause in her contract. Later she told Daily mail that she trusts the dude MAFS star Domenica Calarco was allowed to appear on the show last year because she “did it anyway and didn’t get permission from Nine”.

Casting agent says Yahoo Lifestyle that they believe a clause in the Channel Nine contract is designed to “deprive reality stars of the opportunity to extend their 15 minutes of fame.”

“This happens every year, and usually there is only short-term interest in these types of TV presenters. You have to be very talented or maintain your brand for casting producers to be interested in you 12 months after your show ends,” they share.

Another insider tells us that in addition to the potential legal consequences, Block contestants are forced to “be nice to Channel Nine” while they await payment to sell their home at auction.

“The $650,000 that Kylie and Brad made at the auction is transferred into their bank account in three payments, payable only 12 months after the sale of the house,” they explain. “It’s unlikely you’ll be rocking the boat waiting for those payments.”
