CASS COUNTY, Mo. — Volunteers from Heart-n-Hand Ministries in Belton delivered Thanksgiving meals to those in need in Cass County Saturday morning.

About 375 residents and families received food, according to Angela Kramer, secretary of the Heart and Hand Ministries Board of Directors. The ministry says there has been an increase in need over the past couple of years.

“With food prices so high compared to past years, it is not surprising that many people only need basic food items like groceries,” said volunteer Richard Klein.

Klein spent Saturday morning delivering food to families with his friend Daryl Jeronemus. They met with some Cass County residents who needed the holiday cheer more than others.

“She said it definitely meant something to her, but she also asked to be put on the prayer list because in this particular case, she is suffering from cancer,” Geronemus said.

Klein and Geronemus often said a prayer before each family or resident to whom they delivered aid.

“We want to thank You for the blessings we have in our lives,” they prayed.

Kramer said the service is important because it meets a need in the community.

“If we can help fill that void and make sure they have a truly happy Thanksgiving, that would be a fantastic outcome for everyone,” she said.
