ROYAL OAK, MI (WXYZ) — The Detroit Zoo is pleased to announce the return of Wild Lights.

Wild Lights, presented by Corewell Health Children’s, is an exciting seasonal celebration that transforms the zoo into a winter wonderland. From November 23 to January 5, guests are invited to experience 30 magical nights with dazzling displays of more than 5 million LED lights. Wild Lights offers a unique holiday celebration experience mixed with the magic of animals at the Detroit Zoo. Visitors will be able to enjoy huge shimmering images of giraffes, polar bears, insects and more! In addition to performances, the event offers a musical light field and a fun theatrical show, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer 4D.

As a special bonus, guests will also be able to take a photo with Santa! The merry fellow himself will be at Wild Lights from 17:00 to 22:30 on Fridays and Saturdays and from 17:00 to 21:00, all other events will take place until December 23. This year’s event includes immersive and interactive displays, twinkling light tunnels, larger-than-life animal sculptures, seasonal food and drink, and more. Guests can also visit the new art exhibit, Among the Living: Photographs of the Wildlife of Guadalupe Laiz. Warming stations and live entertainment will also be available.

Guests who enjoy Wild Lights can show their support by voting for Detroit Zoo Wild Lights in USA Today’s Top 10 Zoo Lights contest (detroitzoo.us1.list-manage.com). People can vote for Wild Lights once per day until voting closes on Monday, December 2nd, with the top 10 winning exhibits announced on Friday, December 6th. Wild Lights is also the perfect place to give back. The Detroit Zoo is once again partnering with Mittens for Detroit to collect mittens and gloves for those in need.
