“I used to cry every three days.”

“I used to cry every three days.”

Ghanaian musician Jacklyn Acheampong popularly known as Gyakie has opened up about the pressure she went through early in her career.

In a discussion on BBC Africa, Gyakie noted that pressure from fans and management to release hits made her cry every three days.

“If I get pressured or yelled at, I grab a napkin and cry. That’s why I don’t like being pressured and shouted at. Early in my career I cried at home almost every three days because the pressure was too much, especially when Forever blew up. Expectations were high for me to deliver another hit song,” she said.

However, the “Forever” hitmaker noted that she understands how the music industry works and is therefore resistant to pressure and bullies on social media.

“It’s good when it feels like motivation, but when it’s different, it’s different. And then there’s this negative criticism that doesn’t come from a good place… It took me a while to not let it get to me.

“But now I could see anything in me, when a person knows that he is not true, I would think that someone should give me some water because it is already difficult in the country,” she added.
