K.L. Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal create history and become the first Indian couple to achieve huge success

Yashasvi Jaiswal and K.L. Rahul finished the second day with an impressive unbeaten 172 runs for the first wicket in Perth.

India currently faces Australia in the first Test of the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series at the Optus Stadium in Perth. On the first day, Team India faced problems with the bat and were dismissed for 150 runs. However, the bowlers managed to restrict Australia to just 104 runs, giving India a 46-run lead. First couple Yashasvi Jaiswal and K.L. Rahul showed great resolve in the second innings and Australia failed to take a wicket by the end of the second day.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and K.L. Rahul finished the second day with an impressive unbeaten 172 runs for the first wicket in Perth. This is the first time an Indian opening pair has achieved a century partnership in Perth, including Tests held at both the WACA and Optus Stadium. India’s previous highest opening partnership in Perth was 82 runs between Navjot Singh Sidhu and Krishnamanchari Srikkanth in 1992. The partnership is also the highest among the visiting batting pair at Perth’s Optus Stadium.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and K.L. Rahul now holds the record for India’s second-highest opening position in Test matches in Australia. If they score another 20 runs, they will surpass Sunil Gavaskar and Krishnamachari Srikkanth’s 191-run partnership in Sydney in 1986 to become the highest-scoring Indian pair on Test debut in Australia.

The achievement also marks the fourth time in history and the first time in 38 years that both Indian openers have scored more than 50 runs in an innings in a Test match in Australia. The last Indian openers to achieve this feat were Sunil Gavaskar and Krishnamachari Srikkanth in 1986 in Sydney.
