Swara Bhasker’s husband Fahad Ahmed, following him, claims that the EVM interfered in the affairs; Netizens say: “Don’t cry, baby”

NCP (SP) candidate Fahad Ahmad has started trailing in Maharashtra’s Anushakti Nagar constituency after leading in the early rounds of counting. Fahadh Ahmad’s wife and actor Swara Bhasker raised questions about the integrity of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during the counting of Anushakti Nagar assembly seats.

Fahad Ahmed, the candidate of the NCP faction led by Sharad Pawar, was trailing by over 3,000 votes from Sana Malik, the candidate of Ajit Pawar’s NCP, as the counting process neared completion.

In a post on X, Ahmad wrote, “After 16th round and a steady lead in all rounds… EVM machines which were 99% charged were opened and BJP supported NCP candidate took the lead.. @ ECISVEEP @SpokespersonECI, this is rank manipulation. We demand a recount of the votes of the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th rounds.”

The user replied: “We urge @ECISVEEP to ensure transparency and fairness in the vote counting process. The sudden change in leadership after the 16th round raises serious concerns about the credibility of the EVM. We demand an immediate recount of the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th rounds of votes to restore confidence in the electoral process.”

Another user added: “Learn to accept defeat gracefully. The reasons for bty percentages and their impact on voting are explained and publicly available. Don’t cry baby (sic).”

Swara Bhasker said Fahad Ahmad was leading from Anushakti Nagar seat in Mumbai until EVMs were opened with 99 per cent charge.

“In Anushakti Nagar Vidhan Sabha, after the sustained leadership of Fahad Zirar Ahmad of NCP-SP…in rounds 17, 18, 19, suddenly 99% EVM chargers open and NCP-BJP backed candidate Ajit Pawar takes the lead,” – she said.

After the 16th round and a steady lead in all rounds… The EVM machines, 99% charged, were opened and BJP-backed NCP candidate Ajit Pawar took the lead.

Fahad Ahmed is contesting against veteran leader Nawab Malik’s daughter Sana Malik in Maharashtra’s Anushakti Nagar constituency. Before joining the NCP, Fahadh worked as a member of the Samajwadi Party. He contested the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections from Anushakti Nagar constituency in Mumbai’s south-central Lok Sabha constituency.

Meanwhile, in the broader context, the NDA is on course for a landslide victory in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, currently holding 225 of the 288 seats.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which had won 30 of the 48 Lok Sabha seats just a month ago, is now lagging far behind, winning just 56 seats in the state polls. Sharad Pawar’s party, which contested 87 seats, is leading in 13 constituencies.

We call on @ECISVEEP to ensure transparency and fairness in the vote counting process.
