Dodgers agree to deals with Tony Gonsolin and Dustin May – Orange County Register

LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers offered contracts to eight of their 10 arbitration-eligible players before Friday’s deadline and even reached agreements with two of those players.

Tony Gonsolin and Dustin May (neither of whom pitched in the majors in 2024 while recovering from surgeries) signed one-year deals through 2025. Gonsolin will earn $5.4 million, which is significantly higher than the $3.4 million salary he received during his Tommy John rehab. operation in 2024.

Gonsolin, 30, did make three starts with Triple-A Oklahoma City on a minor league rehab assignment late in the year and threw live batting practice to Dodger hitters during their postseason workouts. He’s expected to take over the Dodgers’ starting rotation in 2025, a group they plan to expand to six players to include Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Shohei Ohtani.

Meanwhile, May was expected to return in the second half of the 2024 season after having surgery in July 2023 to repair his flexor tendon and a follow-up procedure from the Tommy John surgery he underwent in May 2021.

But in July he had emergency surgery to repair a torn esophagus and was sidelined for the season.

On May 27, he threw a total of 101 innings since 2020. He will earn $2.135 million in 2025.
