AFC Swansea City Owners Update

Swansea City are delighted to announce the start of a new era for the club, having today received EFL approval to change the majority shareholding of the club.

Club chairman Andy Coleman, Brett Cravatt, Nigel Morris and Jason Cohen acquired the remaining shares of Steve Kaplan, Jason Levien, Jake Silverstein and all their partners, with Coleman continuing to lead the day-to-day operations of the club.

This ownership deal sees Andy, Brett, Nigel, Jason and other valued partners investing over £20 million into the club. This new funding provides the club with an important foundation of stability, will cover the club’s operating costs for the foreseeable future and will enable strategic investment in the first team.

The new ownership group intends to continue to develop the Swansea Way football philosophy and ensure consistency from the first team to the Academy. There will be a strong focus on making data-driven decisions that will help the club both on the field and in its player recruitment efforts. The club creates a robust infrastructure to support a high-performing first team and academic environment. And he is committed to developing a self-sustaining model for women’s and girls’ football that allows the game to grow and flourish, while providing new opportunities for girls across Wales to play the game they love.

As part of the change in ownership, Swansea City is pleased to announce the addition of four investors to the club’s board: Jason Cohen, Tyler Morse, George Popstepanov and Chris Schneeweiss. These new board members are set to play a key role in shaping the future of the club.

The main focus of the newly formed partnership group will be to leverage the collective expertise of well-known entrepreneurs to increase the club’s commercial income for investment in the team and club. The new owners and investors are determined to build a stable foundation and transform Swansea City into a market-leading club and organization.

Swansea City is about more than football and finance, it is a community institution and a leader and the Collective Investment Group recognizes the important position the club has in this city. Community will always be at the heart of what we do.

Andy Coleman, Chairman of Swansea City AFC: “I am delighted that Swansea City and our fans will announce a new majority shareholding and new investment. This change gives us the opportunity to reboot and start a new era for this great club.

We are building a high-performance organization that can deliver sustainable, long-term success. But there are no shortcuts on this path. Football doesn’t owe us anything. We must earn our chance and we must take it.

There is no doubt that Swansea City’s best times have come when there is a strong bond between the club and our wonderful fans. I hope this reset gives us a chance to rekindle that connection, but I know we have work to do. “My mission is to make Swansea City fans proud of their football club again.”

Brett Cravatt, board member: “I’m thrilled to be part of this exciting new chapter for Swansea City.

Each of us in the ownership group has built and run successful businesses from the ground up. We’ve seen first-hand the enormous value of creating the right culture, led by dedicated teams who make data-driven choices. We are committed to working with the club’s excellent staff to transform Swansea City into an innovative leader and sustainable club both on and off the pitch.

Nigel Morris, Board Member: “I am proud to be part of the ownership group of Swansea City Football Club. Although I live in the United States, my roots are in Wales, and my Welsh heritage is an important part of my life. It is a great honor to work with a club that is at the heart of Welsh football.

I look forward to playing my part in building a sustainable business in Swansea City and ensuring the team’s success for generations to come.”

Jason Cohen, board member: “I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be part of this incredible club. I have been fortunate to build and lead companies that have placed high-performance entrepreneurial cultures at the core of their operating models. I look forward to working with Andy and the team to take Swansea City to new heights.”

Paul Moeller, Director of Support at Swans Trust: “On behalf of the Supporters’ Trust, I am delighted to see this new ownership structure officially ratified and announced after many weeks of hard work behind the scenes to ensure everything went as expected. We welcome Jason Cohen, Tyler Morse, George Popstepanov. and Chris Schneeweis to the board of directors and are confident that they will help usher in a positive new era for the club along with co-owner and club chairman Andy Coleman.

The Foundation will release its own statement today. In the meantime, we’re all looking forward to Sunday’s game against top quality Leeds United, as I’m sure all of our fans are.”
