Swifties reached out to the woman who booked 191 hotel rooms in New Orleans and compared the Eras Tour to the failed Fyre Fest

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Taylor Swift superfan Rebecca Fox is called out by fellow Swifties after a social gathering she hosted in New Orleans ahead of the pop icon’s Eras Tour concert was heavily bombed, the Daily Mail reported on Friday, November 1st.

Fox initially went viral after booking 191 hotel rooms in the city ahead of the singer’s concert, in what she claimed was an attempt to protect fans from outrageous hotel price increases during the event, which took place from October 25 to 27.

However, she also hosted her own Swiftie conference and charged guests extra money on top of their hotel fees, promising them a Taylor-Swift-themed fun weekend. Shortly after, patrons began sharing their experiences on social media, claiming that Fox had failed to deliver.

Rebecca Fox reportedly promised those who received a hotel room from her a Taylor Swift-themed bag of goodies, a pool party with a DJ and cocktails, a treasure hunt, a talent show, a karaoke party, and friendship bracelet making. and a swamp tour.

According to Whiskey Riff, the package had an additional charge of between $40 and $150, including brunch, as well as nearly $500 for a hotel room and a $25 deposit. Fox claimed she didn’t charge extra, but simply wanted to spend time with like-minded Swifties.

However, after the event, Swifties were furious and claimed that Fox had not only failed to deliver on her promises, but had essentially charged them extra for free hotel amenities.

Complaints about Rebecca Fox

Many fans shared their horrific experience on social media, including TikToker username jump4js, who created a five-part series around the event. Rebecca Fox ran a private Facebook group of fans who were staying at a hotel where she allegedly behaved rudely to guests.

“She will threaten to kick people out of the group, she will threaten to cancel their hotel room” if people want to attend retreats held in the city, the content creator explained.

If fans did not want to attend her events or stay in their rooms, Fox would require them to provide her with concert tickets before refunding the money. With concert tickets starting at $1,200, guests were at a loss as to how this could even be considered comparable to a room.

Rebecca Fox’s Failed Event Compared to the 2017 Fyre Festival

Reports have compared Rebecca Fox’s failed event to the infamous 2017 Fyre Festival, which resulted in organizer Billy McFarland spending nearly four years in prison.

According to Sky News, guests were then charged thousands of dollars for what was advertised as a party for a young, elite crowd on the island of Great Exuma in the Bahamas. The reality was far from this as they arrived to disaster relief tents and raw food.

Photos of stranded festival-goers surfaced, turning it into a viral disaster and leading to several lawsuits and criminal investigations into McFarland.

Rebecca Fox’s statement on this matter

Rebecca Fox spoke with NOLA.com about the matter and said she could not share details of the event because her lawyer was not present in the United States.

“My lawyer is leaving the country for two weeks. As much as I want to be transparent and share some things that people don’t know, I have to take his advice and wait to make an official statement until he returns.”

She insisted there was no “malice” in her actions and acknowledged her shortcomings, saying: “I know I failed. I accepted that I failed.”
