Member of Parliament (MP) for Korle Clottey, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings, responded to an armed robbery in broad daylight in Adabraka, one of the communities in her constituency, on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

According to starrfm.com.gh, the MP expressed concern about the increasing number of armed robberies in the area.

She noted that Saturday’s incident was the second in less than four months in the same location.

Dr Rawlings said she would take up the matter with relevant security agencies to take steps to curb the growing incidence of robbery in her constituency.

She expressed deep concern for the safety of her constituents.

“I, in turn, inform the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Homeland Security about what is happening here.

“We reassure people in the community without guaranteeing that their safety will be guaranteed. I don’t think that’s enough,” Korle Clottey was quoted as saying.

About the robbery:

GhanaWeb had earlier reported that a group of armed men, suspected to be robbers, stormed the Adabraki area on Saturday. Viral videos of the incident show at least five heavily built men brandishing various firearms.

The footage shows the men firing into the air as they loaded items, including bags of money, into a silver car. Witnesses reported that the robbers ordered a passerby, who raised his hands in surrender, to comply with their demands.

At some point, the suspects scattered some of the confiscated money while continuing to fire warning shots. After loading the stolen goods into the car, they sped away, firing additional shots into the air.

Unfortunately, at least one person was injured by gunfire from the suspected robbers. Another video from the scene shows residents rushing the injured man to hospital.
