Rumors surrounding the Chargers’ approach to the trade deadline are detailed in a new report

The Los Angeles Chargers are on the hunt for the NFL trade deadline.

Or at least Jim Harbaugh and general manager Joe Hortiz are working the phones.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Chargers are at least looking at what they have: The Chargers are what I would call a “shop window” – they like where they sit, but will look at options to become better over the next few days.”

That fits with the fact that, as we wrote this week, the Chargers are the NFL’s most interesting rebuild-rebuild hybrid. They’re getting healthier right in the middle of the AFC playoff race… during the first year of a gentle “rebuild” around Harbaugh.

However, Hortiz has been aggressive in making small but promising moves, such as signing with Poona Ford and trading for Elijah Molden, to name a few.

Looking at the deadline, the Chargers could easily make similar moves to bolster problem areas such as wide receiver, tight end and defensive depth. A smaller move with upside potential to help fight plans now could be a gamble, and they have plenty of trade targets they could consider.

The outcome of Sunday’s 4-3 game against the Cleveland Browns could go a long way toward determining how the Chargers choose to approach next week’s deadline.
