Why the Trump campaign is spending big on trans issues

FEW THINGS make Donald Trump more agitated than talking about transgender issues. When he makes his closing argument to America, hardly a speech or ad goes by without mentioning “illegal aliens” undergoing “taxpayer-funded surgeries” or biological males competing in women’s sports. Most of them are inflammatory and hateful. Some of this is clearly untrue, such as his claim that children are returning from school with a gender reassignment, or his running mate J.D. Vance suggesting this week that teenagers are “going transgender” to get into Ivy League colleges. But part of it is wrong.
