Highway 138 reopens after being closed due to unchained vehicles east of Diamond Lake

UPDATE (5:45 p.m.): Highway 138 has reopened between Diamond Lake Junction and US 97, ODOT said in an update.

“Be prepared for winter conditions. Use chains if necessary. Carry emergency supplies with you.”

DIAMOND LAKE, OR. – A 10-mile section of Oregon Highway 138 east of Diamond Lake Junction (OR 230) is closed, the Oregon Department of Transportation said Friday around 3:30 p.m.

“The road is blocked by disabled vehicles that are not using chains properly,” ODOT said.

Motorists are asked to take an alternative route or delay travel until conditions improve.

“Be prepared to use chains if you are traveling at higher elevations; carry essentials with you.”
