2024 Melbourne Cup Hurdle Draw Results, Live Stream, What Time Is It, Full Field, Horses, Hurdle, Numbers

Derby Day marks the start of the great Melbourne Cup Carnival at Flemington. It is also the day when the all-important hurdle draw takes place for the race that will stop the nation.

The hurdles will be decided shortly after the final race is completed and won on Saturday afternoon.

This year’s horses will cross the finish line in Race 9 at approximately 5:45 pm ET. The hurdle draw is expected to take place in approximately 30 minutes at 6:15 pm ET.

There are not many races in the world where the hurdle draw is as important as the Melbourne Cup, given the size of the field (24 horses) and the 3200m distance.

History shows that hopes for the horse to score 18 points have been dashed as no horse has ever won the Melbourne Cup from this gate.

Hurdle 5 has proven to be the most successful hurdle, with eight horses winning by jumping from it, although the last winner was Fiorente in 2013.
