Beau Lamarre-Condon: Australian taxpayers may have to foot accused cop killer’s legal bill

The family of former Australian police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon (inset) can no longer afford a potentially lengthy trial over the deaths of Jesse Baird (left) and his partner Luke Davis, it is reported.

Former Sydney police officer Beau Lamarr-Condon has received legal aid from the Australian government ahead of the accused killer’s crucial court appearance.

A 29-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a former Channel 10 employee. Presenter Jesse Baird, 26, and his partner Luke Davies, 29, days before their bodies were found in surfboard bags on a rural property in the small town of Bungonia on February 27.

In August, the charges against LaMarre-Condon were reduced to two counts of domestic violence-related murder and one count of breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony.

Lamarre-Condon’s lawyer, John Walford, was expected to make a statement on the defendant’s behalf when the case returns to court on Monday. Now Daily mail says Legal Aid NSW has taken over the case as the Lamarr-Condon family can reportedly no longer afford a potentially lengthy trial.

If a not guilty plea is entered next week, sources said the trial could last four months and cost Australian taxpayers up to A$880,000 ($96,700).
