Tallahassee Police Announce Road Closures Ahead of FAMU Homecoming and FSU Football Game

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Tallahassee Police announced road closures that will go into effect starting Friday, ahead of Florida A&M University’s graduation and Florida State home football game.

Friday, November 1:

  • From noon to midnight, Macomb Street from Carolina Street to Brevard Street will be closed for the Frenchtown Uprising.
  • From 9 a.m. to midnight, Woodward Avenue from West Gaines Street to St. Augustine Street will be closed. West Madison Street will also be closed from Woodward Avenue to Laurin Street due to the Seminole party.

Saturday, November 2:

  • Road Closures for the FAMU Homecoming Parade:
    • The following staging areas will be closed from 6:00 a.m. until approximately 11:30 a.m.:
      • Howard Avenue from Pascoe Street to Althea Gibson Way
      • Hampton Avenue from Pascoe Street to Althea Gibson Way
      • Famsey Avenue from Pascoe Street to Althea Gibson Way
      • Gore Avenue from Pascoe Street to Althea Gibson Way
    • The parade route will be closed from 6:00 a.m. to approximately 11:30 a.m.:
      • Althea Gibson Way from Orange Avenue to FAMU Way
      • FAMU Path from Pinellas Street to M. L. King Blvd.
      • Perry Street from Robert and Trudy Perkins Way to Okaloosa Street
  • Road closures for FAMU football games:
    • From 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Althea Gibson Way will be closed and only open to accommodate increased traffic from Osceola Street to FAMU Street.
    • Perry Street from Robert and Trudy Perkins Street to Okaloosa Street will be closed until midnight.
  • Road closures during football matches in the former Soviet Union:
    • At 10:30 a.m., all roads around Doak Campbell Stadium will be closed for booster access:
      • Gaines Street will be crowded for both games and should be avoided if possible.
      • After the game, Pensacola Street will be reversed into oncoming traffic to facilitate traffic leaving the game.
      • All road closures will reopen within an hour of the game.
