As the general election approaches, marijuana is on the minds of many Floridians.

Amendment 3 aims to make recreational use of marijuana legal for those 21 years of age and older. A Florida Atlantic University (FAU) poll released Aug. 14 found that 56% of all voters supported legalization, with the measure being more popular among younger voters (18 to 49).

Online real estate platform Real Estate Witch conducted a study earlier this year to identify the top weed cities across the country, with four Florida cities ranking among the top 50.

But will some of these cities be ranked higher this time next year? Here’s what you need to know.

But first, what is marijuana? Also called weed, Maryjane or Kush.

According to the National Institute on Drug Use, marijuana is a greenish-gray mixture of dried flowers from the Cannabis sativa or Cannabis indica plant.

The main psychoactive chemical in marijuana, responsible for most of the intoxicating effects people seek, is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC. This chemical is found in the resin produced by the leaves and buds of the predominantly female cannabis plant.

The plant also contains more than 500 other chemicals, including more than 100 compounds chemically related to THC, called cannabinoids.

Which US city has the most weed?

Dubbed the “King of Kush,” Denver has proven to be the top pot-growing city in the country.

Marijuana is easy to find in Denver, with a variety of dispensaries stocking local favorites. It ranks third in the number of pharmacies: 10.4 per 100,000 inhabitants – 4 times more than the city average. Denver also has the second-highest number of head stores, with 2.3 per 100,000 residents.

The price of marijuana is “virtually unbeatable” in Denver, where an ounce of high-quality weed costs $242, compared to the average price of $318.

Could any Florida city rank higher in 2025? Maybe that’s why

2025 could be the best year for Florida cities for marijuana consumption, depending on election results.

On Tuesday, November 5, Florida voters will see recreational marijuana on the Florida ballot as a constitutional amendment known as Amendment 3 is initiated. Amendment 3 seeks to legalize recreational marijuana by allowing individuals 21 years of age and older to possess up to 3 ounces and higher. up to 5 grams of cannabis concentrate.

He still needs a supermajority, or 60% of the vote.

How soon will recreational marijuana become legal if Amendment 3, the Recreational Marijuana Amendment, is passed?

Don’t get too excited and on fire. Even if the amendment wins the election in November, marijuana will not immediately become legal in Florida.

The process of passing legislation following a successful referendum could take several months. Even if it passes, the Florida Legislature must decide how to implement the law, including specific rules regarding the amount of marijuana that can be purchased at one time, activity limits, marketing rules and any other issues that arise during the process.
