Broken Sword – the delayed Switch version of the Shadow of the Templars remaster will be released next week

Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged, the newly remastered edition of the classic point-and-click puzzle adventure from developer Revolution Software, has finally received a Switch release date after a recent delay and will release next Thursday, November 7th.

Shadow of the Templars, first released in 1996 (a Director’s Cut remaster was released in 2009), chronicles the adventures of American tourist George Stobbart (later assisted by photojournalist Nicole Collard) as he becomes embroiled in a global conspiracy after witnessing explosion on the streets of Paris, perpetrated by a man in a clown costume. It skillfully weaves historical fact and fiction into a fascinating, sometimes gripping whole that quickly won fans and has since been considered a classic of the point-and-click genre.

Released for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation back in September, Revolution Software’s version of Reforged introduced a host of updates, including “beautiful” redrawn 4K backgrounds, reanimated sprites, improved audio, and other quality-of-life improvements. However, the Switch release was delayed at the last minute to “ensure that the quality of the game remains equally high across all versions of the game.”

Six weeks later, Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged has finally received a release date of November 7th on the Switch eShop, where it will cost £24.99/€29.99/$29.99. In a post posted on Kickstarter, Revolution noted that the Switch version will include all the fixes and improvements made to the PC version since launch, while the other Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4 and PS5 will receive them ” very soon.” .

As for future plans, the sixth game in the Broken Sword series, Parzival’s Stone, was announced last year. In it, George and Nico are caught up in a terrifying conspiracy involving Nazi treasure hunters, brutal medieval history and quantum physics, as ruthless tech entrepreneurs, corrupt government agencies and billion-dollar global energy corporations compete for possession of a manuscript revealing the secret location of the mythical thousand-year-old Grail. – perhaps not at all what we are used to hearing about. Parsifal’s Stone was originally slated for release in 2024, but was delayed to an unspecified point in the future earlier this year.
