Diwali 2024: How to Do Celebrity Makeup in 5 Steps

Diwali 2024: How to Do Celebrity Makeup in 5 Steps

Festive glamor complements the holiday wardrobe, with Bollywood celebrities providing inspiration for a variety of looks.

Sit back asked three celebrity makeup artists to decipher some popular makeup looks to add that extra sparkle to your Diwali or Bhai Dooj look this season.

Cold tone

The cool makeup look of the 1990s is still popular and actress Ananya Panday recently paired her silver outfit with eye shadow for a red carpet look. Celebrity makeup artist Shraddha Naik, who works with Pandey and other stars like Shraddha Kapoor, says the hero of this look is the metallic eyes. She used cool tones for the eyes and skipped the blush on the cheeks to keep the whole look cool. Nike spoils the look.

  • Prep your eyes with concealer and set them with powder. Make the eyes first so that if there is any fallout you won’t have to clean the base or dust it with powder.
  • Start with a creamy metallic silver eye shadow on your eyes and blend it upward towards your crease line. Alternatively, apply a mixture of cream shadows in silver and golden bronze tones only to the lid and simply blend into the crease. To set cream eyeshadows, use bronze eyeshadow powder. The main thing in this image is the right combination. The colors should look like a gradient, so you’ll have to mix a lot of colors, but don’t overdo it or they’ll look muddy. The main thing is to blend until you get a beautiful result, and the starting and ending edges of the various shadows are not visible. Mix one with the other.
  • Add some silvery cream eyeshadow to the inner corners and below the bottom waterline and blend it out. Add black paint along the waterline. And on the upper lash line and blended it like smudged eyeliner. Use a gray shimmer shadow on top of the black pencil and the same gray shadow below the waterline to ensure the colors match from top to bottom.
  • Curl your lashes and apply two coats to define them. Fill in the brows where needed and keep the base minimal. Apply bronzer to your cheeks to give them a more metallic look.
  • Finish your makeup with nude lipstick and apply balm on top.

Play with colors

As the weather gets drier, so does your skin, and no amount of luxurious makeup will make you look good if you apply makeup on dry skin, says celebrity makeup artist Kavye Sharma.

Sharma deciphers the dramatic violet eye look he created for actress Kriti Sanon. You can try these techniques with other bright colors, but remember to keep the focus on the eyes and the rest minimal. Patient blending is the key to creating dramatic and sophisticated looks.

  • Apply purple eyeliner or eyeshadow all over your eyelid. Blend it with a blending brush to ensure an even color.
  • Apply dark purple eyeshadow to the crease and slightly above it.
  • Now apply a lighter purple eye shadow to the inner corner of your eyes to brighten your eyes and add dimension.
  • Finish by lining your waterline with dark purple or black eyeliner and blending it out. Apply some shimmery eye shadow and finish with lengthening mascara for big eyes.
  • Add thick kajal along the waterline and blend with purple eyeshadow to create the perfect contrast.

Keep your skin natural and healthy with moisturizer and light foundation. “I love Armani Luminous Silk foundation and I just add a little concealer where needed. Choose nude lip shades and a little gloss. Add lots of pink blush and keep your skin dewy,” says Sharma.

Celebrity makeup artist Shraddha Inder Mehta says some makeup additions can elevate the simplest look. Take actor Anjini Dhawan’s date-ready look above.

“I started by prepping my skin with Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream and using the House of Beauty massager to absorb it. I used Fresh Look lenses in a green shade, which makes the makeup pop,” says Mehta.

Apply Carmex balm to your lips and follow the steps below to achieve your desired results.

  • Start with a subtle brown shadow from MAC to create the crease. Next draw a liner (MAC liner) to enhance the shadow.
  • Use concealer under your eyes and then foundation.
  • Lightly contour and add blush for added color. Finish with highlighter.
  • Keep your lips neutral and add a little gloss.
  • Finish with mascara and setting spray.
