TV presenter Dick Strawbridge has a stern message for any hairdresser who dares to approach his iconic facial hair. The 65-year-old, known for his work alongside his wife Angel on the hit show Escape to the Castle, shared his strict personal grooming routine during his podcast.

Recounting a visit to Bath with Angel, 46, he recalled a traumatic experience four decades ago that left a lasting impression. Dick stated: “My biggest fear when going to one of these barbers is being warned, ‘Don’t touch my mustache or you’ll lose a finger.’

He continued, revealing the reason for his fears: “The barber didn’t cut my mustache because it happened one time and one side of my mustache looked like Hitler… That was 40 years ago and no one has touched my mustache since then, so the mustache don’t touch.”

The TV presenter also expressed dissatisfaction with some cutting techniques, expressing dislike for overly groomed beards: “I can’t cut my beard when they touch your beard and leave lines,” Express reports.

“They drew a line around the top, around the neck and stuff, and it looks like you’re pretending to be well-groomed and have a beard, I don’t understand that at all,” he added.

Despite his strict requirements regarding the mustache and beard, Dick is not entirely averse to getting his hair cut, as he and Angel spoke highly of the Turkish barbers they encountered in Bath.

Angel said their decision to explore the island came after lunch at The Ivy. This led to a light-hearted exchange about the frequency of haircuts, with Dick wondering, “How often does a guy need a haircut? Well, apparently it’s about once every seven days when we’re on tour. Who gets a haircut every two?” weeks? When I need a haircut, I need a haircut.”

He also mentioned the funny, but almost dangerous, moment caused by Angela’s desire to capture the event on film.

Dick recalls: “The thing is, I do eyebrows, ear hair, anywhere there’s hair growing where it shouldn’t be, but Angela is very happy to have it all burned off.”

He continued: “Angela wanted to film me. He started burning my ears and hit my ear with flames, but he waited for you to get the perfect shot and my ear got damn hot!”
