Showers will clear out in the morning before it’s time for jokes, but a cold front is expected to move in later in the day.

Temperatures will remain in the 60s until 1 p.m., then drop into the 40s after sunset, Mowry said.

FULL FORECAST | Chicago weather: Still windy and unseasonably warm, with rain late Wednesday

The wind warning is in effect until 10 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. Wind gusts could reach 50 mph, Mowry said.

People in the Chicago area were enjoying warm weather that felt like a slight resurgence of summer.

From driving ranges to bike paths, ABC7 saw people trying to make the most of the unseasonably warm weather Wednesday.

People in the Chicago area were enjoying warm weather that felt like a slight resurgence of summer.

It was a hatless, gloveless day for Megan Thomas in Burnham Harbor as she enjoyed a bike ride along Chicago’s lakefront.

“We’re getting close to Halloween and it snowed a couple of years ago and I ride my bike in shorts, so I can’t complain,” Thomas said.

For the second day already, autumn in the city looked more like a summer day. Tuesday’s high of 82 broke the record.

“I can’t complain,” golfer John Anderson said. “I like it this way: not too hot, cool. I like this weather. I can deal with this every day.”

Pleasant weather attracted many golfers to Jackson Park Golf Course.

“We’re stealing days right into October and November,” golfer Richard Tulloch said. “We’re going to take them all while we can… we’ll watch the leaves, tell stories and have fun hitting the ball.”

Despite warm temperatures, it is time again for all ships, except those with late departure permits, to leave Chicago harbors by October 31st.

Tom Houston and his team have six more boats to dock at their 134th Marine Center in Indiana.

“Usually it’s a lot colder, but the winds are just crazy today, so we can’t do much more today,” Houston said. “It was quite difficult for this one to get into the trailer.”

While most were enjoying the unseasonably warm weather, knowing it might not last, Adam Bilter decided to make the most of it on a friend’s boat on the lake, waiting for the reality of fall and then winter to finally set in.

“I already have my jerseys and gloves and I’m ready to go,” Bielter said. “I’m ready.”
