Membrey set to join Pies after delisting from Saints

Tim Membrey is set to join Collingwood after the experienced key forward was axed by St Kilda.

Membrey was dropped from the Saints squad on Monday and has to look for his third AFL club.

Collingwood appear to be favorites to land the 30-year-old’s signature after luring free agents Harry Perryman (GWS) and two-time All-Australian Dan Houston (Port Adelaide).

Originally selected for Sydney in 2012, Membrey played one senior match for the Swans before moving to St Kilda as a delisted free agent in 2015.

Limited by injury to seven games in 2023, the Traralgon product has struck out 30 majors in 19 games this year and is the Saints’ second-highest goalkeeper behind Jack Higgins (36).

Membrey scored 293 goals in 178 appearances for the Saints, being named their leading goalkeeper three times (2016, 2017, 2019).

“The last 10 years have been an incredible privilege,” Membrey said.

“I have enjoyed being here at the club with many teammates who I am proud to call friends and I have felt supported by the Saints faithful every step of the way.

“I look forward to this new chapter with my family and will always be grateful for their support throughout my career and into the future.”

Membrey joins double champion Seb Ross and Tom Campbell who were among the players delisted, while midfielder Jack McRae joined Saints from the Western Bulldogs.
