Although there are reports that Roma have asked Daniele De Rossi to return in place of Ivan Juric, Zvonimir Boban has criticized the Friedkin family. – How dare you? Shame on you!’

The Giallorossi thrashed Fiorentina 5-1 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi this evening, adding to the enormous pressure already under the manager.

The campaign was a disaster from the start: on September 18, club icon De Rossi was sacked without warning of Juric’s involvement.

In eight games, the Croatian has recorded three wins, two draws and three defeats between Serie A and the Europa League.

RAI Sport now suggest that Roma have called De Rossi, who has a new agent since his sacking, and asked him to return as he is still under contract.

They expect a response on Monday.

Speaking as a pundit on Sky Sport Italia this evening, Boban had some very harsh words for Roma owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin.

“The problem is Juric is the last coach you would want in a situation like this,” Boban said.

“He is good at a completely different style of football, he needs very physically strong and tough players, while he has taken a team with excellent technical qualities.

“He is also not suited to take over mid-season without working in training over the summer.”

Former Milan director Boban has given his harshest criticism to the decision that was made to sack De Rossi, who had already sacked Jose Mourinho in January, and not to bring in Francesco Totti.

“This is an absurd situation created by inadequate management that has no respect for the values of Roma fans.”

“There are people who wrote the history of the Gypsies and they were dismissed as if they were nothing. I’m not saying that a former great player should become a great director or coach, but Totti was not given the opportunity to master this role.

“The same goes for De Rossi, they burned him right away as if he was a zero. Who are you to do this? How dare you? Shame on you!”

The Friedkin family were initially welcomed as American owners, but with Milan facing similar problems under RedBird, Boban believes there is a fundamental gap between their approach and Serie A football.

“Running clubs as a business is an Americanization that does not respect any of the values of Italian football, and I have never liked that.

“I’m not just saying this because Roma lost 5-1 to Fiorentina today. “Roma is a great club and should be respected.”

Of course, Boban was involved in a legal battle with Milan’s former owners Elliott Management – also American – when they approached Ralf Rangnick behind the backs of directors Boban and Paolo Maldini.

He was fired for talking about it in an interview, and he sued the club.
