Jonathan Taylor Injury Update: Latest news on star Colts RB entering Week 8

Jonathan Taylor Injury Update: Latest news on star Colts RB entering Week 8

The Indianapolis Colts star running back has not played the last three games with a high ankle sprain.

After a fumble during the fourth quarter of the Week 4 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, Taylor was diagnosed with a mild upper ankle sprain.

However, Taylor missed three games due to injury, and although the Colts were 2-1 during that stretch, his absence from the rushing attack was glaring.

In weeks five and six, the Colts rushed for just 99 and 80 yards, respectively. Those are season lows so far with Joe Flacco under center.

After Anthony Richardson returned in Week 7, the Colts rushed for a season-high 155 yards. However, the duo of Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson totaled just 87 yards.

The Colts need Taylor back in the lineup if they are going to compete in their second division game against the Houston Texans.

Here’s the latest on the running star ahead of the Week 7 road showdown.

Jonathan Taylor Injury Update

Speaking to reporters on Monday, head coach Shane Steichen said he was “very optimistic” Taylor would be able to train this week.

Steichen plans to speak with the media again on Wednesday before the first practice of the week to give a better idea of Taylor’s status ahead of the game against the Texans.

Taylor has yet to practice since suffering a sprained ankle, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he is limited upon his eventual return. It is unclear whether he will need to log a full practice session before he is cleared to return to play.

If Taylor misses another game, it’s likely the Colts will continue to rely on the fairly evenly matched duo of Sermon and Goodson.
