Dan Cholmaek, of Bescot Crescent, Walsall, was charged with attempted murder after the woman was found stabbed to death on Sunday evening. She remains in hospital with “life-threatening” injuries, police said.

West Midlands Police and British Transport Police were called to the scene near the Park Inn at around 11.25pm ​​and the 18-year-old was arrested the following morning.

Cholmayek appeared at Walsall Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm and was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Wolverhampton Crown Court on November 19.

British Transport Police, which is investigating, said the victim’s next of kin had been notified and were being assisted by specially trained officers.

A force spokesman said: “Officers were called to Bescot Stadium station just after 11.25pm ​​on Sunday, October 20 to reports of a serious assault. A woman was found with injuries consistent with stab wounds.

“She remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her next of kin have been notified and are being assisted by specially trained officers.”
