Sydney Thunder add to WBBL|10 roster with signing of Ella Briscoe

Sydney Thunder have finalized their squad for the upcoming Weber WBBL|10 season with the acquisition of one of Australia’s brightest young talents, Ella Briscoe.

The Sutherland all-rounder impressed selectors with her hitting power and composure under pressure throughout the first T20 Spring Challenge.

Briscoe’s inclusion complements a well-balanced squad full of youthful energy and WBBL experience and the young cricketer is excited to get started.

“This is an incredible opportunity,” Briscoe said. “I’ve always dreamed of playing at this level and to do it with a club like Sydney Thunder is absolutely amazing. I’m really looking forward to learning from the incredible players and coaches here.”

Briscoe’s strong performance at the Spring Challenge was a key factor in her signing, with Sydney Thunder general manager Trent Copeland praising her ability to perform under pressure.

“We were looking for a player with that extra X-factor and Ella provided just that,” Copeland said. “She has a fantastic temperament, which really showed through in some tense moments during the Spring Challenge. We look forward to seeing what she brings to the Thunder this season.”

Copeland also emphasized the importance of Briscoe’s versatility, noting her contributions with both bat and ball.

“Ella has a really exciting quality. Not only can she provide power in the middle, but we also want to see her size and ball action develop this season. She fits perfectly with Thunder’s vision of nurturing young, talented cricketers.”

Briscoe is part of the next generation of Thunder players, following in the footsteps of young stars like Phoebe Litchfield, and is looking to make her mark this season.

“This team has an incredible combination of experience and youth,” Briscoe added. “I can’t wait to get started and contribute where I can.”

Sydney Thunder set to open WBBL|10 campaign in Hobart against Hurricanes October 28 before returning to Sydney to face the same opposition at the North Sydney Oval next Thursday night. (October 31).

Sydney Thunder will call Drummoyne Oval with three home matches this season on November 12, 17 and 20 and encourage all #ThunderNation fans to come and show their support.
