Attempted car theft, Boondall – Brisbane North

A 22-year-old man was arrested and charged by North Brisbane Criminal Investigations on suspicion of attempting to steal a car about 10am on Saturday, October 19, at an address in Boondall.

The man allegedly entered through the front door of the home and found and allegedly stole the car keys.

It is alleged that a resident noticed a man inside the vehicle trying to start it and called for help, attracting the attention of witnesses who helped the victim get the man out of the vehicle.

Police arrived a short time later and found the man nearby. He was arrested and taken to Brisbane City Watch House.

A 22-year-old Northgate man has been charged with attempted unlawful use of a vehicle, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, trespassing and criminal trespass.

He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on November 5.

Police remind everyone that thieves will take every opportunity to steal cars.

  • Keep your keys safe; keep them out of sight.
  • Keep your home safe; lock the doors and windows.
  • Don’t give keys to thieves.
