DCMC Reaches Agreement with Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative

The partnership between Door County Medical Center (DCMC) and Common Ground Health Cooperative (CGHC) will continue once an agreement is reached.

DCMC announced Tuesday that the agreement between the two parties is the result of extensive community feedback and collaboration between both organizations.

Brian Stevens, CEO of DCMC, emphasized the importance of the agreement, saying, “The Health Exchange is an important platform for our community to connect seasonal workers, the self-employed and early retirees to the health coverage they need. This agreement between Door County Medical Center and Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative will ensure that our local residents will have all the options available to them through the exchange and can continue to receive care locally.”

Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative CEO Kathy Mahaffey stated that “CGHC and DCMC recognize our importance to the Door County community, and we agreed that prioritizing the needs of our members and patients is important. Through this shared understanding, we were able to reach a mutually acceptable compromise so that service to our members and patients will continue uninterrupted.”

Door County Medical Center announced in July of this year that it was terminating its contract with CGHC because the two parties could not agree on reimbursement for medical services.

The agreement comes in time for the federal market’s open enrollment period, which opens on November 1.
