Chaplaincy and youth initiatives

We all face difficult times. No matter what you’re facing, chaplaincy is an open, non-judgmental space to talk about what’s on your mind and heart. Working as part of the school pastoral support team in Catholic and ecumenical schools in the Archdiocese of Brisbane, chaplains provide safe and positive mentoring to students, as well as additional support to staff and families. Your school office will be able to provide you with information about chaplains at your school.

Chaplains are accessible and present at what are very often key moments in a young person’s life. Catholic or ecumenical chaplaincy is available at all major institutions of higher education. The chaplain’s role is to support young people in their continued spiritual development and faith formation opportunities beyond Year 12.

Through a combination of learning centers and peer ministry offered by on-campus groups, Higher Education Chaplains encourage young people to discover and grow in their understanding of Christian life and the teachings of the Catholic Church. Often the Sacraments are made available through the High Chaplaincy.

Catholic youth initiatives provide opportunities for young people to stay connected to their faith as they transition from high school to adulthood.

There are a number of faith groups, societies and ministries that operate on tertiary campuses throughout the Archdiocese of Brisbane. They vary in their activities and focus, but generally operate on a peer-to-peer basis with occasional meetings where students can engage in fellowship as they discover and grow in Christian life and the teachings of the Catholic Church. understanding.
