WBBL 10: Perth Scorchers sign fast Indonesian Suwandevi as rookie assistant

Perth Scorchers have secured one of the brightest talents in Indonesian cricket as Ni Made Putri Suwandevi has signed for WBBL 10. Known for her exceptional all-round ability, Suwandevi has become a staple of the Indonesian team since her international debut in January. 2019.

She boasts an incredible international record of taking 49 wickets at 8.18 and an impressive economy of 2.97 runs per over in 42 matches.

The 26-year-old, known as Tory, was signed under the League’s Associated Newcomers rule, which allows clubs to sign players from associated countries and keep them outside their original 15-player squad.

An associate rookie is eligible to replace an injured domestic player or unavailable national team player on the playing roster, but may be selected as a fourth national team player on any playing roster.

The signing of Suwandevi is the first success story of the recent partnership between WA Cricket and Persataun Indonesia Cricket. In January, the first memorandum of understanding was signed between the two organizations, under which WA Cricket will support the development of young players, coaches and facilities in the region, cementing its reputation as a leader in the sport.

Reflecting on her first WBBL contract, Suvandevi said: “I am thrilled to be joining the Perth Scorchers ahead of WBBL 10, in one of the best T20 competitions in the world.
